Position Title: Network Operations Center Technician
Location: Chicago, IL
Background/Work Experience Required:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in the telecommunications industry with basic switch maintenance. Preferably with the Sonus soft switch.
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate strong PC and MS Office skills
- Demonstrate strong UNIX knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding of high speed internet backbone services
- Fundamental knowledge of basic networking principles to include basic understanding of TCP/IP, IP subnetting, VLANs, Ethernet and basic routing and switching
- Basic knowledge of VoIP Telephony, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail and Cisco Meeting Place
- Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting, installation and maintenance related practices with PRI, T1 and DS3 voice circuits
- Familiar with SS7 protocol, testing and trouble shooting
- Basic knowledge of VoIP Telephony, Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity voicemail and Cisco Meeting Place
- Strong problem solving and analytic skills to isolate problems, recommend solutions and implementation of solutions
- Be able to work in a geographically dispersed team environment
- Ensure all support documentation is kept current
- Provide on-call support (if required).

Responsibilities and Duties:
The NOC (Network Operations Center) Technician will be responsible for providing 24x7 monitoring of all components of Neutral Tandem’s network utilizing various network monitoring systems and direct access to switches, DACS, routers and other network elements. Technicians are alerted to and must act upon any alarm conditions.
- The NOC manages trouble tickets in the TaSC database
- NOC Technicians are responsible for generating reports required by Management for traffic and service analysis
- NOC Technicians are responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures in order to perform routine network changes, migrations, and maintenance in various network elements upon management request
- NOC technician must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and solve network related issues and problems efficiently utilizing monitoring tools, reference materials, and other team members for guidance
- Open trouble tickets and follow up on network/customer issues per NT procedures
- Coordinate testing with customers on customer trouble tickets
- Foster an environment of knowledge sharing within the NOC and all Neutral Tandem personnel
- Interface positively with peers, other department, carriers and customers to identify operational issues and provide efficient corrective actions
- Ensure that all paperwork such as customer, internal and maintenance tickets are completed accurately and in a timely fashion
- Accept On-Call responsibilities on a rotating schedule with other technicians
- Be available for over-time work assignments when requested
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment that represents a professional company image. Keep areas clean and organized on a daily basis
- Display a positive attitude towards Neutral Tandem and other work groups within the Neutral Tandem environment
- NOC Technicians may be responsible for other tasks and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by management.

Position Title: Network Operations Center Technician (CUCM)

Background/Work Experience Required:
- Minimum of two years related experience in infrastructure/network environments, with some experience in network engineering (hardware and software), network security practices and designing, planning and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology
- Experience in PBX and/or Call Center systems engineering experience
- In depth professional experience with Cisco Unified Communication Portfolio ( CUCM, Unity Connection, Session Manager, etc. )
- Very strong Cisco Routing and Switch / Data Networking skills
- Extensive experience in Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable
- CCVP, CCDP, or CCIE certification preferred
- Experience with router configuration, knowledge of voice mail, unified messaging, ACD and IVR systems
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and end users
- Demonstrate strong PC and MS Office skills
- Demonstrate strong UNIX knowledge
- Be able to work in a geographically dispersed team environment

- Set up, configure, and test Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Call Manager Express, Unity Express, Cisco LAN switches (core, distribution and access), Cisco firewalls, routers and voice gateways, etc.
- Ensure a stable performance environment by troubleshooting, maintaining and upgrading all components of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager.
- Act as a Cisco Voice Subject Mater Expert to customers and internal staff
- Assist Account Managers during the sales process by educating the customer about new technologies and IP Telephony methodology
- Participate in the management of projects
