Sales Engineer
Background/Work Experience Required:
To be considered, candidates should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or technical field or equivalent
- Five to seven years of technical environment sales engineering and/or sales in a voice/data environment.
- Wholesale industry experience in key trends and requirements with existing relationships.
- Minimum of two years in a position requiring direct professional interfacing with customers.
- Engineering skills in MPLS, IP, VoIP/SIP, Sonet, DWDM, Ethernet, Frame/ATM and Voice applications.
- Technical sales skills, communication skills, presentation skills, strategic planning skills, LAN technology, WAN technology, customer premise hardware technology, technical network diagramming and design, Cisco, or other route and hardware configuration experience.
- CCDA/CCNA preferred, but not required.
- Ability to travel, as required.
- Excellent written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Experience at being a strategic member of the sales management team who contributes significantly to growth and development of the business.
- High energy level and demonstrated drive to success.
- Employment of ethical business practices required.
- Highly proficient in Visio, Microsoft Office suite and PC-based network utility tools.
- 5 years of experience working with PSTN networks at both the switching, t transport and data layers.
- 5 years of experience working on installation, configuration and powering of telecommunications hardware.
- 5 years of detailed experience in switching systems including Nortel DMS and Sonus Softswitch (next generation switching platform).
- 5 years of experience working with telecommunications engineering principles in the area of data networking, transport, signaling, space, power, switching, and surveillance.
- 5 years experience in TCP/IP networking, knowledge of routing protocols OSPF, RIP, knowledge on Ethernet networking VLAN.

Responsibilities and Duties:
This position provides quality pre-sales technical support to the sales organization. The Sales Engineer (SE) interacts with the customer to execute the technical aspects of Neutral Tandem's sales strategy. The SE works in tandem with Neutral Tandem sales force and actively participates it the sales calls. The SE helps to qualify sales opportunities, resolves all technical issues arising during the sales engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, develops solutions and provides technology presentations to both technical and management-level audiences. Spends 80% of the time in the field and/or on conference calls on customer meetings supporting sales teams.
- Design variable complex voice and date network sales solutions for applications, including preparation of network topologies, technical specifications, etc.
- Assist Sales force in presentations to carriers and partners
- Assist Sales force with ICB creation, review and assemble required data and initiates Complex ICB process
- Provide presale design and engineering support for large and/or complex WAN and VoIP/SIP opportunities
- Provide the sales team with expert technical solutions
- Translate and communicate complex technical design considerations between the sales team and prospective customers on sales and appointments.
- Evaluate, validate, create and present design of technical solutions to customers.
- Takes the lead in technical Q&A with prospects
- Serves as resident technical expert on Neutral Tandem products and services
- Ensures technical information and products sold support customer requirements and lead to successfully installed products and services.
- Create hardcopy, softcopy and visual aid presentations for sales team and customers.
- Create technical network diagrams, pricing proposals, informational and technical power point presentations.
- Work with customers and their vendors to obtain technical information needed to support clean orders through provisioning and installation process.
